How is a Vasectomy Performed?

A no-scalpel, open-ended vasectomy is a quick and minimally invasive procedure, typically completed in about 15 minutes. Here’s what to expect:

  1. Anaesthetic: A local anaesthetic is gently injected, similar to a flu jab.
  2. Small Puncture: A tiny puncture is made in the scrotum, no scalpel needed.
  3. The Procedure: The vas deferens is located, divided and left open at the testicular end to help reduce discomfort.
  4. Repeat: The same steps are repeated on the other side, using the same entry point.
  5. Closure: No stitches are required, just a simple dressing.

This modern technique helps minimise discomfort, shorten recovery and lower the risk of complications compared to traditional methods.
