Vasectomy is one of the most reliable forms of contraception and this technique is safe, quick and comfortable.
Through a single split of about 5mm in the midline of the scrotum, each vas deferens is cut and the upper end sealed, which blocks sperm from reaching the ejaculatory duct. A small piece of tissue called fascia is stitched between the two ends so they can’t rejoin.
This procedure is called ‘open-ended’ because the testicular end stays open. This lowers the risk of congestion and pain after the procedure.
