The Booking Process

NO SCALPEL, OPEN ENDED VASECTOMY

1. Decide on Location (Hornsby Clinic or Day Hospital)

IV sedation or local anaesthetic alone both available
You must check your eligibility and excess with your health insurance provider
Please note that your final booking time and time of arrival will be advised by the hospital
For patients with no insurance who wish to self fund please send an enquiry so we can arrange a quote prior to booking

2. Decide on IV Sedation vs Local Anesthetic

You will not be aware of the procedure or feel any pain
The hospital will advise what time you need to fast from
You must have a lift home with a responsible adult - you must not drive for at 24 hours
The anaesthetist will assess you on the morning of your vasectomy
Some men may not be suitable (such as BMI > 35 or high risk patients)
Additional gap fee of $200 paid directly to anaesthetist

LOCAL ANAESTHETIC

You will be fully awake during the procedure
You do not need to fast
Most men tolerate the procedure very well (slight aching is normal)
You can drive yourself to and from the clinic. There is easy parking out the front.
It is normal to feel apprehensive about your vasectomy - we are here to help!
